Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Fab Lab?
Fab Lab is short for “Fabrication Laboratory.” A Fab Lab is generally equipped with an array of computer controlled tools that accommodates various working scales and materials, with the aim to make “almost anything.” The idea for such a space grew out of MIT Media Lab’s Center for Bits and Atoms.
Who can use your services?
The Fab Lab is for everyone in the local community as a resource center for design fabrication, digital innovation resource, and STEM education support for institutions serving K-12. Our mission is to provide underserved communities with resources, technology, and information at a grassroots level.
What’s the cost?
Programs that are funded through grants and sponsorships are 100% free to our community. Our fabrication service and educational programs are priced competitively. Some institutions such as other 501(c)3 nonprofits we work with qualify for in-kind matching. Please contact us directly for quotes and estimates.
