The Latina LEADS program is a one-year after-school program for middle school girls (grades 6-8). The robust curriculum provides participants with three hours of programming and one hour of tutoring per month through participation in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) focused workshops, interactive activities, interviews with industry professionals, access to academic and career guidance, leadership development, and emotional support. Throughout the program participants are provided an introduction to four STEAM pillars: Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Broadcasting as a means to build foundations that will support them in their future academic and professional endeavors.

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is the oldest and largest Hispanic membership organization in the country. LULAC works to advance the economic conditions, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health, and civil rights of the Hispanic population of the United States through community-based programs operating at more than 1,000 LULAC councils nationwide.

  • Understand how STEAM education can help develop transferable skills
  • Analyze the STEAM skills employers are looking for in the workforce
  • Explore technological advancements in the film, health, and fashion industries
  • Examine the implications of technological advancements on people, communities, and the world
