Event Details

Recommended for ages 10+, limited to 15 students only.

What does it take to design a product? This year we will be hosting an online Maker Camp centered around the theme of inventions! Learn the basic skills needed for taking a solution from ideation to product in a process called prototyping. In eight live instruction meetups over Microsoft Teams, we will be learning all about real-world problem solving through fun (and funny!) engineering, 3d modeling, 3d printing, coding, electronics, and more.

Campers will engage in creative thinking by designing unconventional solutions to everyday problems. The students will create a prototype out of recycled materials to showcase their abilities to use technology, art, and their imagination to fabricate.

Topics that Campers will learn about include basic conductivity circuitry and program the Adafruit computer chip to create a unique project using LEDs, buttons, sounds, sensors, and other special features Adafruit offers.

“Saturday Sessions” are 2 hour structured and guided lessons from 10a to 12p on June 20, June 27, (no class July 4), July 11, and July 18.

“Wednesday Workdays” are 1 hour recap, troubleshooting, feedback, questions and answer time with instructor on June 24, July 1, (no class July 8), July 15, and July 22.

We will be sending out a $45 value Maker Box to those who register, which includes Adafruit Circuit Playground Express and various supplies and materials to make both useful and silly inventions with.
