Sponsor an <Hour of Code> Event

“There’s 42,000 open computing jobs in the state of Texas right now and those are being unmet because students don’t have the skills to match them. 22% of Texas high schools that offer computer science, when it’s a mandate to be offered. So, we’re just trying to give our students as much opportunity to gain the skills necessary to succeed in a 21st century economy”

J. J. Childress, Microsoft Community Engagement Manager

The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify “code”, to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities.

Microsoft’s TechSpark program sponsored Hour of Code in December 2018 for CS Education Week. We need your help in order to offer Hour of Code every month in 2019. View KVIA News Coverage here.

We are looking for a pledge of $250 to sponsor Hour of Code for up to 100 students.

This covers the costs of instruction and supervision plus healthy snacks and organic juice box for each participant. Event sponsor will have their company logo or name appear on the instruction screens and will be thanked by organizers at start of event.
